Piston seals play a vital role in preventing fluid from moving between the piston head and the cylinder bore within a hydraulic or pneumatic mechanism. Positioned in the cylinder head, they form a tight seal against the bore as pressure builds during movement.

Operating under high pressure and extreme temperatures, these seals must perform reliably. Single-acting seals handle pressure from one side, while double-acting seals manage pressure from both. Both types must maintain a dynamic, durable seal throughout the full range of motion.

Chesterton® 7K Piston Seal (Piston Cup

A single-acting piston cup with a positive, flared-lip design to optimise sealing forces. Individually manufactured, the 7K compression-molded design is supplied with a supporting metallic brass disc, molded into the base of the seal and a rigid base to provide a stable, non-distorting, anti-extrusion resistant seal.

Chesterton 22KE ROd & Piston Seal (U-Cup)

A single-acting, continuous u-cup design that incorporates the use of an O-ring to increase pre-load capabilities for low pressure. The O-ring energises the seal- increasing its pre-load capabilities in the absence of system pressure.

Chesterton 27K Rod Seal (Stacked Set)

A single-acting, stacked v-ring set with a positive rake design to provide optimum operating performance. Unlike conventional stacked sets, this design makes contact through the center to ensure even loading, longer sealing life, and minimal gland pressure. Available in split or solid designs for closed-cavity hydraulic applications.
