Reducing maintenance of wire ropes in overhead crane
Challenge
The breaking of strands in wire ropes occurred easily due to friction. Once noticed, the 144-foot wire ropes had to be replaced due to their unsafe condition. During replacement, the crane would not be available for loading and unloading equipment.

Solution
The Chesterton 715 Spraflex® Gold was applied to maintain the overhead crane wire ropes. The Chesterton 715 Spraflex ® Gold is a surface lubricant for chain drives, open gears, and wire ropes. Other benefits of this product are:

The client observed that wire breaks occurred less frequently. The Chesterton 715 Spraflex® Gold is a surface lubricant for wire ropes. It resists extrusion by bonding a “wear shield” to protect equipment under heavy loads.
