Ordinary grease was used to lubricate the roller bearings installed in an oven during the coating process. Drying of the lubricant and subsequent corrosion occurred on the bearings which resulted in the bearings being replaced in a short period of time.

The Chesterton 615 #2 High Temperature Grease was applied on the roller bearings. Chesterton 615 #2 is a high-performance, corrosion-inhibited, water-resistant grease with outstanding extreme pressure capabilities and excellent water washout resistance. With a temperature limit of -40° C (-40° F) to 204° C (400° F), it is ideal for demanding conditions of temperature, water, corrosion and heavy loads.

After months of evaluation, the customer reported no evidence of further failures and no corrosion on the bearings. The conditions are still excellent after a year.
