Raw Water Intake Pumps


Raw water pumps are specified to be coated with NSF 61 approved lining for corrosion protection, as well as ensuring water quality is not impacted by corrosion scale. If left unprotected carbon steel pump components will corrode impacting water quality.

Prevent corrosion to asset while ensuring compliance to NSF 61 standard.

All surfaces grit blasted to SP10 cleanliness with an angular profile of 3+ mils


  1. ARC S1PW ‘stripe coat’ applied to weld seams and angles at 10-15 mils WFT.
  2. Immediately following stripe coating, two subsequent coats of S1PW were applied in alternating colours to a final DFT of 30-45 mils in compliance with NSF approval.
  3. Final film was holiday tested for ‘pin hole’ free condition.

ARC S1PW is designed to:

  • Provide excellent barrier protection against abrasion, corrosion and chemical attack
  • Extend wear and predictable maintenance
  • NSF 61 certified as a protective barrier layer for the internals of tanks, pumps, valves and fittings where potable water exposure exists and NSF certification is required
  • NSF 61 for use on the internals of pipes with a diameter of 1/2 inches or greater
  • NSF 61 for use on the internals of tanks >=1,500 US gal (5678 Litres)


Client Reported:

  • Project completed on time and pumps installed by client (City of Houston TX) in spring 2019.
  • As of 2022 no reports of coating failure have been received. Expected liner life is >15 years.
