Increasing Productivity with Chesterton 720 CCG with Diluent

Issue
A stainless steel producer has encountered a problem with wire rope lubrication on their cranes. They used lithium grease to lubricate the wire rope. Excess grease squeezes off the wire rope and contaminates the high-quality stainless steel end product rolls. Consequently, the rolls need to be cleaned before shipping to customers.

Solution
Application
Due to the requirement for a clean operation in a dusty environment, Chesterton® 720 Chain, Cable, and Gear Lubricant (CCG) with Diluent was chosen. Chesterton 720 CCG easily penetrated the wire rope bundles, leaving a clean, non-dripping lubricating film. Chesterton 720 CCG required no special equipment. Bulk Chesterton 720 CCG was easily brushed onto the wire rope.

Results
Increase Reliability & Productivity
After using Chesterton 720 CCG, the customer reported:
• No lubricant residue dripping or soiling of the finished stainless steel coils.
• Re-lubrication cycles increased from 1 month with grease to 4 months with Chesterton 720 CCG.
• No breakdowns, resulting in increased productivity.
