Challenge

The hydraulic hose drive chain failed before its anticipated life expectancy (less than 4 months) due to environmental issues of heat and water. Access to provide lubrication was also difficult.

Even after using Chesterton 601 Chain Drive Pin & Bushing Lubricant and Chesterton 715 Spraflex® Gold, the life of the chain was only extended to 10 months due to the limited access area and the time allocated to re-lubricate.

The customer requested an increase in the chain life to 18 months.

Solution

The Chesterton specialist suggested increasing the use of the 715G Spraflex Gold in the application and using Lubri-Cup OL500 to provide consistent lubrication.

After installation of Lubri-Cup OL500 and 715G with brush for more lubrication.

Results

Increased Productivity & Reliability
The customer reported improved drag chain reliability due to the improved system of lubrication. The chain life has been extended to over 18 months.
