Improve Leaking 850 bar Hydrogen Compressor with 20KD

Challenge

Issue – KwangShin has developed hydrogen filling station compressors for automobiles that use hydrogen gas. The required pressure of the hydrogen filling station is 700 bar. But KwangShin gradually increased the pressure from 700 to 850 bar g. They used the 700 bar g O-ring for the first time. However, the O-ring did not withstand 700 bar g and burst.

Goal – They looked for a special O-ring to last 700 bar g, which is inaccessible.

Solution

The Chesterton specialist advised using Chesterton 20KDRFS combined with premium material AWC860.

Operating conditions:

  • Equipment: Hydrogen compressor
  • Fluid: Hydrogen Gas
  • Pressure: 850 bar g
  • Temperature: 150 -180 °C
