Chesterton® 650 AML and 720 CCG Lubricants Saving Combo
Challenge
Issue
Area: Cokes handling.
Equipment: Drive chain for cokes flight conveyor.
Length: 40m.
Issues: Corrosion (by sulphur) and sludge contamination.
Current situation: The chain needs to be replaced every 4-8 months due to unexpected failure. The root causes of failure are lack of lubrication and corrosion.
Customer goal: Extend chain life to 12 months.
Worn roller due to inadequate lubrication and sludge contamination.
Solution
Application
After analysing the problem, a new 1-2 system was selected using Chesterton® 650 Advanced Machinery Lubricant (AML) and Chesterton 720 Chain, Cable, and Gear Lubricant (CCG). First, apply Chesterton 650 AML, then apply Chesterton 720 CCG. This 1-2 system should be applied every two months.
• Chesterton 650 AML: penetrates pin and bushing clearance to create strong lubrication.
• Chesterton 650 AML: creates a strong metal surface film to protect from corrosion.
